Gosh, I love Florida (and the people in it)

Back in July, we went to Florida for some beach time and a couple shows.  Nashville to the Clearwater area is a little long for us these days (what, with the kids and all) so we split it up.

Lazy travel days!

We made it to Largo, FL, unloaded, visited with our friends (hi, Dawkin clan!) and made our way to Clearwater beach the next morning.

Waiting for Daddy to get our spot set up!

Bathing beauty.  We invested in a canopy, which was a life saver.

Oliver played so hard!  He and Trent were in and out of the waves all day.  Amelia and I stayed covered and we still got sun.

Beach playground for the next day.  Bummer the slide wasn't slideable (is that a word?) due to a kid leaving poop on it.

We still had fun, though.  =)

We had a Q & A during The Feast at Smileys on Indian Rocks Church's campus.  It was great to share our stories of divorce and finding each other through those tough times.  Then we sang some songs, duh.

One night, Mama Madeline (our host every time we go down that way) watched O so we could have a date.  We ate some seafood, enjoyed the steel drums being played, and watched the sun set.

Here's a better view of our set up.

He wanted to be buried! And y'all.  Beaching it with 2 kids was so hard.  It was fun, don't get me wrong.  But so much work.  I was basically stranded under the canopy, holding/bouncing Amelia, and nursing while being sweaty/sunscreened/sandy.  And Trent had to do the whole set up and tear down.  Then there's the whole showering, changing the diapers and clothes of the kids.  Exhausting.

I remember seeing this sign when I was pregnant the first time when I didn't know if it was a boy or girl.  Full circle.  =)

Lastly, we played at Smileys again later in the week.  Amelia cried the whole time, so that was no good.  But, we had fun.

We left and made our way to St. Marys, GA for some more shows.

Amelia is 5 months!

Dearest Amelia,

Sweet girl, I love you so. You have brought us so much joy! I cannot imagine life without you.

You are 5 months! You are rolling so much we can't leave you near anything dangerous. And you move a lot while sleeping.

You're sleeping better and you love sleeping on your tummy! And you've even been moved to your room. That was hard for me. I missed (and miss) your sweet snuggles in bed, but this is better for our family. I still keep the pack n play in our room and sometimes you end up in bed with us, but it seems you're making progress.

Off we go upstairs =(

Cheeks and lips.

We haven't started solids yet, but I think you're ready! You eye our food and will grab anything in our hands. Maybe we will try some before 6 months! Who knows...

No one makes you laugh quite like Oliver. You light up when you see him and it warms this mama's heart. I pray you two are close and watch out for each other.

You have another bottom tooth! It has really changed your smile and you are just so stinkin' cute!! You're doing well on the road with strangers, whether it's in the nursery or just being held. But, you'll let us know when you need Mama.

I mean...

When I hold you, you've started grabbing my neck and hair. It's adorable. Unless you pull my hair, then ouch. :)

You're taking a bottle!!!! I gave up for a little while then tried again and you rocked it! Good job, Sister Girl.

You still don't take a paci. I still try some, because it sure would help in the car, but no success. You sUck on your fingers and thumb, though. And while I'm not sure how I feel about that, if it soothes you at night...you do you.

A train ride with the family and Thomas!

Amelia, you are the best, most snuggly, beautiful, sweet girl EVER. I thank God for you daily.  I am honored to me your mama.

May the stars always align for you...
